Roatan

My Roa Life

To even begin to tell you story on how I got here would be a bit long, so I will save that for another time in another post. Sooo, hey, I MADE IT…I made it to heaven, the place that I knew of in my dreams, the manifestation of such a beautiful creation. I am in Roatan, Honduras. I flew direct out of Miami, Florida here and was picked up by my awesome neighbor D and driven to our house. My oh my, as the gate opens, I see the water, I see the house and I feel the breeze of the ocean… butterflies flying all over my tummy and I can see where I am staying.

My little apartment is magical. Tiny house, big spirit… the energy is peaceful, it is beautiful, it has a balcony, I go up the stairs and it is perfect. The owner of the house is my friend Todd, he is a cool motorcycle competitor adventurous dude and such a fascinating life lived so far…his friend Randy is a big goof ball, that had me laughing most of the time we spend together. We all went out, we had coffee in the mornings together, we talked , we went scuba diving, snorkeling the pond (protected bay next to the house), fishing, driving the island and played tourists as well as took care of business while they were here, with the house, the contractor, the handymen and even the bank. They stayed for a handful of days and my story begins when they left. This is the first time in my life that I am going to be living alone, and I am so excited about it. I have a lot of love in my life, I love many people for many reasons, but I forgot who I was and to love the most important one to me, MYSELF… I got lost after big life changes happened and I began meditating and learning to listen to my heart, so my journey brought me here, to be in a relationship with ME in a place that is very deep in my heart.

I am going type as I go along in my day to day like I do on my diary. There may be things that I skip or forget to bring up and am not sure where the road will take me , but I am excited about it all. For many years I have kept a calendar and write my daily highlights on it, I have not gone back to revisit most of them, but they are there for the day I do. I wanted to try something different this time, so online it goes. Let me tell you about my first 3…

Day 1. I woke up to a full moon setting over the water…WOW…I tried to take a picture, then I tried a video, and it didn’t even come close to what I was seeing… The moon was full, bright and it reflected magically over the sea (pic below). I sat on my big orange bean bag with my blankee and thanked God for such breathtaking creation. As the day started to clear up I warmed up the scooter, go to the big house and do laundry, I helped the handyman since he had a small incident and then got invited by my cool neighhbors (I’ll call them D and K)…to watch sunset and then to a local party with dancing and music that led to a drunken Gladys. We returned home and K passed on the couch and I stayed up talking to D. As I made my walk home in complete gratitude for what my eyes are taking in, surrounded by really nice people and under a clear starry night, I decide to take go submerge in the pond (the bay next to the house) I stripped everything and went in. The perfect way to close my night and even though is was cold when I got out, I have a hot shower with my name on it.

Day 2. Needless to say I woke up hurting a little bit. I dont drink much anymore and I could feel it all over, so it was a slow start to my day. I made myself a very traditional breakfast, platanitos maduros, frijolitos refritos and an egg. I walked around the property in disbelief and grabbed my mask, fins and snorkel and went for a swim in the pond. The pond is this rock protected bay with coral, all color fish, sea fans, and a pair of cuttlefish. Since it is protected by iron rock, boats can’t access it and I have it all to myself. I love the dock and the pond and you will surely be hearing many many stories from this spot, it is lovely. Inside and out of the pond it is so full of life and it is the largest private fish tank for me to play in.

After I got back, had my lunch , I decided to begin my cool little project. I am putting together a rock garden with washed up dead coral and stones laying around. I will show you a picture when I am done with it. Sadly, I didn’t get a before shot. I am so proud of it, and it makes the area under the house look so pretty. I talked to D on his dock and walked off for sunset. I love sunsets here, well I love sunsets everywhere to be honest, lol…but knowing this is my home in the now, just makes it that much more amazing. I came back to my place and put some music on, turned some candles on and got lost in the moment. I walked outside a few times to look up at the stars and say thank you a few more times.

Day 3. I can’t believe I wake up to this day. I check my emails from my work desk overlooking the water and I decide to go work on my rock project. The enthusiasm is pretty high, so much so that I busted my finger. I was wearing gloves, but that shit hurt, so rock project goes on hold. I decide to do a mop day, I mop the big house and my place. It makes the space feel so good and smell so clean, I since I walk around barefoot, it feels nice on my feet. I was laying on the hammock reading and heard the gate, and I made friends with the guy across the bay. Everyone is super friendly here, and it makes me smile when they ask where I am from and tell them I was raised in the capital. its kinda cute…

My neighbor D messages me later in the day that they are taking out the boat for sunset, and without any hesitation, I grab my bag and we are out. We take their boat to Sandy Bay Divers and join a crew there that are bringing out another boat and we are having a boat sunset drink time. it was sooooo cool. We went out to West End onto West Bay and just waved at everyone and even did a little dance on the boat. We returned all wearing a huge smile and had a lion fish dinner at Blue Bahia. I don’t know why I was so thirsty, so the drinks were flowing, we then decided to top our night at Sundowners and shut the place down. K jumped in the water at Half Moon bay and it was awesome. We got back home and laid outside star gazing off their balcony. I love my neighbors, so I am like the adopted little sister, I am K’s little sister as well as D’s, they are really nice…I came back to my apartment and stayed awake with my thoughts and many pinch me moments.

So my first 3 days have been epic… definitely beyond my wildest dreams…I love this place, I love my space, I love my neighbors, I love the people, the food, the culture, and the energy. I hope to look back at this time when I am older and be reminded of how blessed I have been in my life, that everything happens in God’s time and that everything happens for a reason.

I hope you stay tuned for the next few days, and join me during my journey…
